The Yellow Bike Project is an initiative to get bikes into the hands of as many Austinites as possible, and is keeping Austin mobile.
Originally established in the 90s as a means of providing single geared bikes, all painted yellow (thus the name), Yellow Bike has since then evolved into both an educational workshop offering free classes on bike maintenance, and a full on storefront with affordable used bikes. Their mission of getting bikes into the hands of anyone who walks into their shop.
This episode Kyle and Caroline chat with Tom and Thomas, two mechanics at the Yellow Bike Project. Together they share the noble history of the Project; how anyone, regardless of mechanical skill, can walk right in, pick up a wrench, and get to work on their bike like a pro. They even share how you can earn a free bike!
